Curricula
- Design, Synthesis, Analysis, and Properties of Functional Molecular Systems
Research topics in Curriculum 1 cover various fields of chemistry: new synthetic methodologies and experimental techniques, reaction mechanisms, photochemistry and photophysics, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry, chemical structuring, computational chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, chemical foundations of nanotechnology, energy conversion, chemical sensors of various kinds, and pollutant analysis. - Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical-Food Chemistry and Technologies
Research topics in Curriculum 2 aim to train highly qualified researchers specialized in the design, synthesis, characterization, and formulation of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical-food products, in the isolation and characterization of active ingredients, in the analytical and toxicological control of synthetic and natural products, and in the development of new drug delivery systems with improved bioavailability characteristics.
Common Training Activities Across Curricula
Linguistics: The educational path of the course includes the enhancement of language skills, encouraging study periods abroad (typically, an average of six months per PhD student) in research laboratories of interest.
Informatics: The acquisition of specific computer skills, absolutely essential for working in the research fields of the course, is implied in the educational activities, which also offer direct use of sophisticated instrumentation.
Research Management, Knowledge of Research Systems, and Funding Systems: Students will be provided with appropriate protocols on the correct planning and conduct of scientific research. Specific information will also be provided on managing national and international research projects, both public and private.
Valorization of Research Results and Intellectual Property: Students will be encouraged to present the results of the research conducted during the course of study through periodic reports presented to the PhD Board. Additionally, the results will be presented at seminars, national and international conferences, and published in journals.
