I seminari dal titolo "Small and wide angle X-ray scattering and its application" saranno tenuti dal Prof. Giuseppe Portale, Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials University of Groningen, NL nei giorni 21 e 22 febbraio 2024 presso l'aula A-1-2
Abstract:
Small and wide angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) are powerful techniques allowing investigation of the sample structure in the impressive 0.1-1000nm range. They can be applied to samples both in solution and in the solid state without any modification needed. In the solid state, they both work on crystalline and disordered state, a great advantage over classical X-ray diffraction. In this seminar series, I will revise the theory of the SAXS/WAXS techniques as well as provide different examples of concrete applications. A mention on membrane and thin film analysis for renewable energy applications will also be given.
The seminars will be organised as follows:
21 febbraio 2024 ore 11.00 Aula A 1-2 Dip. ChibioFarAm: overview of the theoretical aspects of the SAXS/WAXS techniques and the main differences with respect to classical X-ray diffraction. How can we get shape, size, size distribution and arrangment of particles from the SAXS/WAXS profiles?
22 febbraio 2024 ore 15.00 Aula A 1-2 Dip. ChibioFarAm: concrete examples of SAXS/WAXS analysis of a) proteins and lipids; b) systems related to food science; c) nanoparticles; d) fuel cells and battery materials
